General Questions
Somatic movement is an awareness based and holistic movement practice. Based in your first-person experience of your living physical organism (commonly thought of as only your body), thoughts, emotions and connection to Self or Spirit. Somatic practices help you to notice and release tension which causes pain, process emotions, and restore your innate connection to deep rest, safety, peace and therefore healing.
When experienced with a trained professional, it is a neuro-muscular re-patterning practice (a neuro plasticity tool to create change in your brain and your body) using a slow moving, focused, sense-based movement practice.
Hanna Somatic Education® is a Clinical Somatic practice originating in the 1970’s which is used primarily for helping people relieve long held tension (chronic pain), reclaim their ease of movement and posture, addresses anxiety from the bottom up, regulate your nervous system, aid in trouble sleeping, and helps with respiratory problems.
